There's something about alcohol in ice cream that always gets me. I'm not even that big of a drinker normally and would rarely drink rum at all but once you put it in ice cream its like a match made in heaven that I can't get enough of. Others obviously agree which is why 'Rum and Raisin' is one of the most popular flavors out there. This recipe is a nice twist on that old favorite that's guaranteed to please as who ever said that adding chocolate to something, much less a dessert, could be a bad idea? This is delicious and only takes 15 mins to prepare.
Yield ~ 1 litre / 1 quart
Prep time: 15 mins + 6 hours freezing
My rating: 5/5

Ready to get serious about your ice cream making?
The 'no churn' method is great for occasional batches but if you want to get serious about your ice cream making I suggest you invest in an ice cream maker designed for home use.
The two ice cream makers I recommend are the Cuisinart ICE-70 and the Breville BCI600 XL. Click the images below to read more about those two machines or check out my complete guide to ice cream makers to see all the options and read the pros and cons of each.

- I didn't want to buy packets of both dark and golden raisins as the recipe calls for so I just used 2/3 cup of golden raisins
- I left out the orange zest in this recipe and it still tasted fine but I'm curious about the additional flavors it would bring so I'll have to make it again with that included. I also like the color it brings to presentation (check the photos on the author's website)
